¶ Knowledge Center
This site is the official knowledge center for Trade Shield. It is where we grow and expand our organizational memory, allowing us to build on the work of other people and enabling us to execute with confidence and alignment. This Wiki format also allows us to focus on the content and its interrelatedness to each other, avoiding unnecessary effort in styling, packaging, and storing, which is typically required when documenting formal content.
¶ What type of knowledge should kept here?
- Slowly changing information, not for the daily tasks or taking notes of meetings. e.g. Policies
- Where alignment is needed, not individual information but where Teams, Departments, and everyone in the company need to be aligned. E.g. Working arrangements
- Where formal processes are captured, with versioning and role-based access information can be locked in after internal agreement has been done
¶ Approach to information management on this site
Create pages for independent knowledge blocks that can be referenced in different contexts (Single Purpose Pages)
- Structure the pages hierarchically both in the Menu/Index page and follow a strict virtual path naming convention (Taxonomy)
- Link information organically by referencing the pages inline and by defining Tags (Ontology)
¶ Organizational Memory
Our ability to grow in our understanding, everyone contributes and our best gets assimilated into a shared body of knowledge, with new joiners skilled up and when people leave their experience and contributions remaining part of Trade Shield. This leads to systems thinking, enabling consistently delivering high quality and incrementally learning from our shared collective experiences and understanding.
